10% off holidays for first time guests
Blossom Respite Retreat officially opens in July 2023. Our founder and support worker, Celeste, started Blossom to create a unique holiday option for adults with disabilities.
Celeste moved to the Northern Rivers to start Blossom as she saw this as the best holiday location for people from all areas of the country to come and visit.
Celeste has nearly a decade's experience as a disability support worker, and in addition many more years experience as a volunteer in the industry. She has a passion for working with adults with a disability and is specifically passionate about providing them with the experience of a fun, relaxing and independent holiday to build on their NDIS goals.
At Blossom we offer short term accommodation for adults with intellectual disabilities. Each holiday is unique to our guests and includes an around the clock trusted support worker on site, home cooked meals and transport to and from Ballina Airport (or other nearby locations as agreed).
We have three bedrooms in the upstairs portion of the house that are totally separate from the area where our onsite support worker lives downstairs. Onsite we offer a large modern kitchen, two bathrooms, living/dining area, large balcony, swim spa and beautiful green space for outdoor games and BBQ's.
We encourage our visitors to book in a holiday with us in a group of two or three. From experience, we have found that our visitors have the most enjoyable trip when they come along with one or two others that they already know. Please discuss with us if you would prefer a private stay.
We organise each stay unique to the guests that we have staying. We encourage our guests and their families/carers to be involved in the planning process. We have plenty of optional activities that you can add on to your trip, whether you are wanting an adventure holiday, a relaxing break in nature or a mix of both, we have something to offer everyone.
If you are not looking to add any additional activities, that is totally fine. We have plenty of included activities for an awesome holiday. We have an onsite swim spa that is beautiful to relax in in winter as well as summer. We love trips to the beach, whether that is for swimming, surfing, playing on the sand, walking our resident dog, Odie or fishing. We are nearby to some beautiful bush walks, including some that take you to waterfalls and to see our native wildlife.
Celeste and her partner, Lachie, live on site in a separate section of the house. Lachie is a landscaper (with NDIS workers screening check) and loves to be involved in gardening activities with our guests when they are interested.
Our resident dog, Odie, also lives onsite. He lives downstairs so can remain totally separate if you are not a fan of dogs. We can also have him stay offsite for the time you are visiting if you would prefer. However, he loves people and cuddles, so if you are a dog fan then you are in luck.
We have a small onsite vege garden that we love to work in with the guests that are interested. If you like gardening, we would love to get you involved. If not, we like to show our guests how we pick fresh items from the garden and how we incorporate them into their meals.
Cooking is one of our favourite on site activities. All meals are cooked by our support workers and we love to use local ingredients, including what we can grow ourselves. We love to keep our guests involved in the cooking if that is something they are interested in or a skill that they are working towards.
