Short Term Accomodation (STA) is a support offered by NDIS previously known as respite. STA allows the use of NDIS funding for short stays in residential accomodation in groups.
At Blossom we offer stays of between 2-14 nights for groups of two or three. We include three nutritious meals (and plenty of snacks) each day along with lots of fun activities.
We encourage our guests to stay for a week or more as this gives us time to get to know our guests, fit in all of the activities you would like to do and also time to work on NDIS goals that each guest is working towards. We are however flexible on stays and have a minimum stay of two nights.
Blossom is located in Lennox Head. We are just a 10 minute drive from Ballina Airport, one hour from Gold Airport and one hour from a major train station. We have guests that travel to us by plane, train and car. We offer free airport transfers from Ballina Airport.
Often, families or carers will drive (or fly) with guests to Blossom and stay in nearby areas like Byron Bay or Gold Coast for their holiday. This way, the family is close by and they can travel together.
If you need assistance with travel arrangements to get to Lennox Head, then please contact us so we can assist you with options.
Our NDIS rates for STA include accomodation, 24/7 on site support staff and all on site meals. We have plenty of activities that are included in our rate, such as bush walks, trips to the beach, on site swim spa, gardening, cooking and much more.
There are also optional extras including extensive activities, off site meals, petrol costs for outings and costs involved with assisting with travel to Blossom.
Blossom Respite Retreat has the aim of one day being fully accessible and inclusive for all adults with a disability. The most important thing for us is to be able to offer a holiday that is safe for our guests. Therefore, we do have a strict criteria of who can attend Blossom. This is to ensure that we can offer the best possible experience to our guests.
We are currently restricted to the upper floor of a two story home. Therefore, guests need to be able to safely go up and down an internal flight of stairs at least once or twice a day. We currently only have one support worker on each shift. Therefore, guests also need to be able to work on a 1:2 (one support worker and two guests) or 1:3 (one support worker and three guests) basis. For this reason, we do not currently accept guests that are on a behavioural plan and/or need one on one support.
We are working towards growing Blossom in the future to be fully accessible and inclusive, but for now we are restricted to guests who meet the above criteria.
If you want to check if Blossom is suitable for you then please contact us to receive a support assessment form.
